Once again, 88 London Road is joining forces with Tabl to take you on an international food and film tour of the world.
This time, and as part of Brighton Fringe, we will be journeying to India to experience Satyajit Ray’s timeless classic, Mahanagar (The Big City). The film, recently re-released by the Criterion Collection, tells the story of a housewife who disrupts her family’s traditional expectations by getting a job as a saleswoman. It marks the first on-screen appearance of Jaya Bhaduri, who went on to become one of Bollywood’s leading actresses.
Tickets are £20 and include entry to the film, plus Indian street food by Deccan Tiffin, who will be stimulating your senses with sensational herbs & spices, accompanied by a Pago mango juice. There will also be a cash bar all night, with specially designed cocktails.
‘One of the most rewarding screen experiences of our time’ ★★★★★ – Roger Ebert
