Regular 88 London Road collaborators, Talking Scarlet, return to the venue with their newest production: Wait Until Dark.
A drug-filled doll has disappeared from a London flat and three petty crooks are anxious to find it. They work out a plot to compel the owners to reveal the whereabouts of the doll. They lure the husband away leaving his blind wife and her only companion, a little girl who lives in the flat above and tell the blind woman a terrifying story involving her husband’s supposed infidelity. She becomes suspicious and in a nail-biting climax makes use of the fact in the dark the blind have an advantage over those who can see. This masterfully constructed thriller moves from one moment of suspense to another as it builds toward an electrifying, breath-stopping final scene.
‘Talking Scarlet provide the perfect mix of superb acting and direction on their return to 88 London Road, Brighton, in Frederick Knott’s tense thriller’
